Industrial mobile apps for connected IoT products
Mobile apps for connected industrial products – from installer onboarding and equipment commissioning to remote monitoring, device management and multi-brand platforms
- Independently tested apps
- One platform, many brands
- In production 5+ years
What we do
Industrial mobile apps tested for security, privacy and usability
Proekspert designs and builds mobile apps for industrial product manufacturers – apps that connect to devices in the field, work for the people who actually use them, and meet the security and usability bar that independent reviewers test products against.
The engineering patterns are horizontal. The same secure device-to-cloud connectivity, multi-user roles, multi-brand platforms, and regulatory readiness apply across heating, manufacturing, industrial machinery, and field-service products.
Case study
How we helped
MyStiebel: secure remote heat pump control app – Stiebel Eltron
Client challenge / business need
Stiebel Eltron faced growing demand from homeowners for digital, remote control and monitoring of their heat pumps. Their strategic goal: launch a user-friendly, secure mobile app giving homeowners deeper insight and control over their heat pumps – beyond what physical hardware allows.
Technologies
Native mobile apps: Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android. REST APIs, WebSocket, JSON-RPC 2.0, SSDP and mDNS protocols.
Solution at a glance
Proekspert is Stiebel Eltron Group’s established digital engineering partner. We designed and built MyStiebel – native iOS and Android apps for real-time remote device management, secure onboarding via SSDP and mDNS, immediate command sync via WebSocket, and a scalable, reusable codebase ready for future device and feature integration. Direct integration for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water from a single app.
Results
- Stiftung Warentest highest score in digital services – MyStiebel and backend earned the maximum score for privacy, usability, and security in the dedicated digital services category (issue 10/2025), setting a new market benchmark.
- Expanded heat pump functionality with secure, remote climate control – driving higher homeowner satisfaction and product differentiation.
- Unified management of all devices and locations through one intuitive app, with rapid roll-out of new features and appliance support.
Benefits
What we deliver
Native, hybrid, or web
Typical stacks: Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, SwiftUI for native iOS and Android; React Native, Flutter for cross-platform; web where it fits.
The right choice depends on your product, your team, and your lifecycle – and modern AI-assisted development means we can extend into less-familiar stacks when the product needs it.
One platform, multiple brands
Shared core logic and design system across product families – one engineering platform supports several branded apps. Visually different per brand, the same under the skin. Rapid rebranding for sub-brands and new market entries without rebuilding the engineering layer.
Modernize and consolidate existing apps
Inherited a portfolio of aging mobile apps, SaaS platforms with rising costs, or vendor-locked solutions? We migrate existing connected-product apps onto unified, custom-built platforms – preserving operational continuity while shedding subscription bills, vendor lock-in, and feature ceilings. Year 1 to year 5 of your connected-product journey under one engineering partnership.
Real-time device communication, with offline resilience
Bi-directional, near-real-time connectivity between embedded devices and apps – REST, WebSocket, JSON-RPC, push notifications, secure onboarding via SSDP and mDNS. Offline functionality for field environments with limited connectivity. Built for thousands to millions of devices in production.
Multi-user, multi-device account architecture
Multiple users controlling a single device concurrently. One account managing multiple devices across locations. Role-based access for end users, installers, service technicians, and operators.
Engineering pipeline, not staff aug
You get an outcome-owned engineering team, not contractors filling seats. Quality control, automated testing (TeamCity, Appium, Espresso, Page Object pattern), code review, and post-launch store monitoring built into delivery – not bolted on. The same team that ships your app can support it after launch.
RAG and conversational AI
RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) for semantic search across your past tickets, technical documentation, and structured data – surfacing similar past cases and proven next actions inside the app. Plus conversational data capture: multilingual chat, image analysis, automated classification. Production patterns shipped on Azure OpenAI.
Installer and commissioning apps for industrial equipment
Guided mobile flows for field technicians: device discovery, secure onboarding, and handoff to the end-customer account. Built for environments where connectivity is patchy and the installer is not a software team.
Common deployment contexts: HVAC installation, connected-equipment onboarding.
What sets us apart
One engineering team for the whole stack
Mobile, cloud, device firmware where needed – under a single accountable partnership. No handoff between teams once we’re engaged.
Built for industrial product manufacturers
15+ years delivering for European industrial OEMs – heat pumps, drives, sensors, controllers. The engineering patterns that work for industrial-grade products are different from consumer apps; we know which.
Independently audited security and privacy
Third-party verified privacy, usability, and security on apps in production – not a vendor-marketing claim. Independent validation matters more than partnership badges.
Multi-brand engineering as standard
Real experience supporting parent brand and sub-brand portfolios from one engineering platform – a differentiator most service shops don’t have because they haven’t done it.
Tech-agnostic by design
iOS, Android, hybrid where it fits. Cloud chosen on business needs and existing investments, not vendor lock-in. We recommend what fits your context, not what’s on a partnership rate card.
Long-term partnership
Multi-year relationships with European industrial leaders – including ongoing mobile-app partnership with Stiebel Eltron Group across multiple branded apps. Proof that we run apps long after we ship them.
Process
How we deliver value – step by step
Our process is designed for speed, transparency, and minimal business disruption.
-
Step 1
Discovery
We clarify your product, your users and where you are in the connected-product journey, from installers to homeowners and service teams.
-
Step 2
Architecture and design
We choose native, cross-platform or web, design the user experience, and plan device connectivity and multi-brand needs.
-
Step 3
Build and test
We develop with automated testing, code review and quality control built into delivery.
-
Step 4
Launch and support
We release to the app stores, monitor after launch, and the same team keeps supporting and extending the app.
Core principle
The visible product is the app – the engineering underneath is what makes it work
Mobile apps are what your end users, installers, and service teams see. The work that makes them actually function – secure device-to-cloud connectivity, scalable backends, multi-brand platforms that survive years in production – is what’s underneath. We’ve delivered both for European manufacturers for over 15 years. One team, one accountable partnership, no handoff.
